Paver Sealing in Gulfport, FL
Paver Ink cleans and seals paver driveways, walkways and patios across Gulfport. The problem here is almost the opposite of the beaches: not enough sun rather than too much.
Local conditions
Gulfport is a mainland waterfront town on Boca Ciega Bay, known for its oak canopy and older bungalow stock. That shapes what fails first.
Shade is the defining condition
Gulfport has genuine tree cover. Mature oaks over narrow streets mean many driveways barely see direct sun. Pavers there do not fade much, but they stay damp, and damp plus warm is exactly what algae and mildew want. The surface goes green and gray rather than washed out.
Leaf tannin stains, and it stains deep
Oak leaves and acorns sitting wet on a paver leach tannin into the surface. It shows as brown blotches that look like dirt but do not wash off with pressure alone. They need a treatment that targets the tannin specifically, before any sealer goes near them.
Older driveways need less pressure, not more
A lot of Gulfport hardscape has been down for decades. Older pavers and brick have softer faces, and an aggressive surface cleaner will scour the top layer right off, leaving them permanently rough. Slower and gentler gets a better result on this housing stock.
Four steps, no surprises
-
Walk the job
We measure the field, count the joints and tell you what the surface actually needs. If sealing is the wrong call, we say so.
-
Clean & sand
Surface clean, then hand detail the edges and stains. Polymeric sand gets swept and set into every joint.
-
Seal
Two coats, wet-look or matte, applied once the pavers read dry all the way through. Damp pavers are how sealer goes cloudy.
-
Walk it again
You look at it with us before we load the trailer. Anything off gets fixed that day, not on a callback.
Paver questions in Gulfport
My driveway goes green every year. Will sealing stop it?
It slows it down considerably but it will not stop it, and anyone who promises otherwise is overselling. Algae needs moisture and a surface to grip. Sealing removes the grip, so regrowth is slower and the next clean is far easier, but a shaded driveway in Florida will always want to go green eventually.
Can you get out the brown stains under my oak tree?
Tannin stains usually come out or fade substantially, but it depends how long they have been sitting. Years-old tannin in a porous paver may lighten rather than disappear. We will tell you which you are looking at before we start rather than after.
My pavers are old. Will pressure washing damage them?
It can, at the wrong pressure with the wrong tip. That is a real risk on older brick and softer pavers. Surface cleaners spread the force out rather than concentrating it into a jet, and on older hardscape we dial down and take longer.
