Paver Sealing Prep Checklist

Clear the surface

Anything sitting on the pavers has to come off before we start:

• Patio furniture, planters, grills and pool toys
• Door mats, hose reels and garden ornaments
• Vehicles, trailers and anything on wheels
• Pet bowls, and ideally pets indoors for the day

Plan where the cars go

This is the one people underestimate. A driveway needs to stay clear through the clean, the sand and the seal, and then through the cure, which means overnight at minimum. Work out in advance where the cars are going, especially if you are on a narrow street or in an HOA with parking rules.

Check water and power

We need an outdoor spigot with decent pressure and, on some jobs, an exterior outlet. If your spigot is behind a locked gate or your water pressure is poor, tell us when you book rather than on the day.

Tell us the awkward things

None of these are problems if we know beforehand. All of them are if we find out mid-job:

• The pavers were sealed before, especially if it went cloudy or flaked
• There is an irrigation head that throws across the driveway
• A section has sunk, or pavers rock underfoot
• There is a stain you particularly want addressed
• Someone in the house works nights, or there is a sleeping baby
• Neighbors share the driveway or the access

Trim back what overhangs

If you have shrubs or branches hanging over the work area, a light trim beforehand helps. It keeps foliage out of the spray and stops leaves dropping onto a surface that is still curing.

After we leave

Keep foot traffic off for a few hours and vehicles off overnight. Do not put furniture back until the following day, and hold off on running the sprinklers over the area for the first twenty-four hours. We will give you the specific numbers on the day, because heat and humidity move them.
